Well fall is officially here and I have been so busy! There have been some happy times and some sad times these past few weeks. First, the school year has started. I have 29 kindergartners this year which can be overwhelming at times, but I feel like it is going to be a great year! I have a wonderful aide, a great new principal, and a really nice class of kids!
Two weeks ago was the 7th annual Crochet for a Cure. This year I renamed the event Crochet, Crafting, & Cooking for a Cure because we are trying to broaden what we sell. The cookbook has been a hit so far! I've sold just over half of them and hope to sell more. Right now, it looks like we will be able to spend about $250 on each of our two families that we will be sponsoring for their cancer-free day of fun! I am so thankful to Stevi, Tom, and all of my friends and family who have helped make my dreams come true to do something to honor and remember my mom each year, while making a difference in the fight against cancer. Orders are still trickling in (if you want a cookbook or any leftover crochet, let me know), and I can't wait to put the gift baskets together for our two chosen families. Details on that to follow!

also wanted to post some pictures of one of my favorite families, The Dessey's. Stevi is the most wonderful friend to me and I couldn't be happier for her that her dreams of a family have come true. Seeing her and Joe with their two little kids, Leo & Juliet makes my heart smile. Here are some pictures from when Tom and I had a blast babysitting them and from Stevi's sister's wedding.

As far as Rustic Restorations, Tom and I had our first furniture sale. One of our tables was sent off to a buyer in Boston and we couldn't be more excited! We hope our little hobby business continues to grow!
We went to the Yankee game last night for my dad's birthday. We wanted to see Derek Jeter play one more time and I really enjoyed spending time with my dad, Eric, and Tom. The Yankees won 5 to 3 and it was such a fun night!
Lastly, on September 12th my Grandma passed away. My dad's mom suffered her whole life from bipolar, yet she was one of the most unique people in my life. As a child we would always wait to hear if it was a good day or a bad day. On her good days she could be so funny and we used to laugh so much! On her bad days, it was hard to see how she was sad and in so much pain. Some of my favorite memories of my Grandma include the stories she used to tell us about her childhood friend Rosetta to make us laugh, Eric and I hiding on top of the washing machine each time my grandparents would visit us to see if they could find us, playing bowling on our Nintendo system, and overall just being amazed at how she could make everyone laugh so easily. I'm sad that my Grandma won't make it to Eric's wedding, but I know she will be there in spirit!

So overall, the beginning of fall has been super busy and filled with ups and downs. But I know I am blessed and am looking forward to our first fall in our new house!
